Thomas's introduction to photography was a high school minority journalism workshop sponsored by the Oregonian. He developed his skills in news writing, design and photography while working on student newspapers in high school and college in Portland.

As a Communications Specialist at TriMet, Thomas covered the opening of two rail projects, numerous construction projects and many sponsored celebration events. His photography was featured in Grist, Metro Magazine, Passenger Transport, Portland Mercury, Portland Tribune and Wired.

Earlier in 2012, the Regional Arts and Culture Council purchased two of his photographs for their Portable Works Collection. The pieces were selected by an independent panel that reviewed more than 1,200 digital images and made final decisions based on viewing the actual artwork.

Thomas takes assignments covering weddings, conferences, cultural performances and other social events. His clients have included nonprofits, law firms, and many happy families.

He was Board Co-Chair for the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) and also volunteers with the Bus Project.
